Full timeEssential Responsibilities:
- Performs coding audits to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures, laws and government regulations.
- Ability to write a Letter of Rationale for providers.
- Ability to meet required productivity standards in both quantity and quality.
Qualifications:
- Credentials: RHIA, RHIT, CCS
- Minimum 3 years coding/auditing experience
- Proficient in the use of Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and Encoders
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment

Inpatient Coder
This position entails review of inpatient medical records for the purpose of assigning the appropriate ICD-10/PCS code diagnosis and procedure codes. Coder is recognized as an expert and responsible for maintaining a 98% accuracy rate in the assignment of codes with the use of an encoder/grouper or book if deemed appropriate.
Job Requirements (knowledge/skills):
– AHIMA Credentials: RHIA, RHIT, or CCS
– 2+ years experience in ICD-9-CM coding
– Proficiency in the operation of computers
– Proficient in the use of an encoder/grouper
– Skilled in data entry
– High standards and work ethics
– Able to work efficiently under pressure
– Able to meet required deadlines
– Professional mannerism
– Ability to problem-solve and make appropriate decisions
Job Responsibilities (functions):
– Ability to maintain a 98% accuracy rate in the assignment of codes
– Ability to demonstrate expertise in decisions related to assignment of codes
– High understanding of ICD-10/PCS coding principles and practices
– Fluent in coding rules and regulations
– Strong degree of compliance with coding guidelines
– Effective verbal and non-verbal communication skills
– Dynamic customer service skills
– Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
– Other duties as assigned
